Bob Saget makes HOB blush

God help the person who buys a ticket to Bob Saget's Sunday night show thinking they’re about to enjoy the comedy stylings of mild-mannered Full House dad Danny Tanner. Or the man responsible for those lame zingers on America's Funniest Home Videos. Because while Bob Saget certainly played those parts, it's a (mostly) well known fact that he's an absolutely filthy comedian. He's one of the more perfect pardoxes in American comedy—a man who can play it so straight that he's been a staple of family television for twenty years, yet is capable of evoking laughter by telling inappropriate jokes about infants and sex acts. The genius of Bob Saget lies in his ability to look like Danny Tanner and deliver a joke so blue that even the bawdiest of us are momentarily stunned. It's not just about a superficial shock, either; Saget revels in pointing out hypocrisy and exploring contrasts. Saget's wheels-off stream-of-conciousness style gives his shows an unpredictable edge, but one thing's for sure—if you're easily offended, you're gonna wanna sit this one out. Saget performs at the House of Blues, 2200 North Lamar, at 7 p.m. Tickets are available on ticketmaster.com and range from $29.50 to $55. The show is (clearly) an 18 and up event.
